WHY NDT?
Through quality assurance and integrity of critical equipment and facilities, NDT technologies directly contribute to the protection of the environment, public health, and life itself. Failure modes result in negative social, financial, and environmental, implications.
The field of Non destructive Testing (NDT) covers a wide range of industries, applications, and responsibilities. NDT maintains a critical role in society, assuring that structures, components, and systems perform their function in a safe, reliable, and cost effective method. NDT specialists and engineers implement examinations that locate and identify material conditions and flaws. Such deficiencies could result in catastrophic damage such as causing planes to crash, reactors to fail, trains to derail, pipelines to rupture, and a variety of other less visible, yet equally serious results. Non-destructive techniques are performed in a manner that does not affect the integrity of the object or material. NDT allows parts and materials to be inspected and measured without destruction, which does not interfere with a product’s final use. Therefore, NDT offers exceptionally cost-effective quality control.
